My involvement with the engineering community started in first when I joined the GNCTR team. Since then I have becomes involved in all areas of the engineering community, including Leo's Lounge, Flightsuits, EngFrosh, and CSES executive. This year, I was Co-Captain of the GNCTR team and brought 24 team members to Hamilton for the competition, winning People's Champion and Best Technical Report. I became the volunteer manager for Leo's Lounge this year and worked with the other managers to improve the lounge. I earned my Flightsuit in my second year and this year was elected to Flightsuit Committee. I have been involved with EngFrosh every year since I was a frosh in the roles of facil and then a head. I have been given a head spot for the upcoming year as well. Lastly, I was elected to the position of V.P. Academic for the society where I took on a lot of the projects that had fallen through the cracks when the previous V.P. Academic had resigned.
Ever since I arrived to Carleton, SOOPP has been there to support the undergrads still at Carleton. Whether it be through being involved in EngFrosh (for my year) or running events, or giving out awards to help some of the undergrads out financially they have given their support. As I became involved in the engineering community I have worked towards giving back to the society that has helped me grow at Carleton. Frosh week was one of the most welcoming experiences I have ever had and I have worked through the past 2 frosh weeks to be sure that each frosh feels as welcomed as I had. When the position for Academic was vacant and needed to be filled, I stepped up and ran for the position knowing that 3 months of work left by the old Academic had to be done in 1 month. I have tried to give back to the society the best I can and have tried to be awesome at doing so and that is why I think I am SOOPP-Worthy.

My Involvement from this year includes: Adult Fun/Dusted Director; VP Social; Flightsuit Committee; GNCTR Tech Ex Captain (2nd Place Woot); Bridge Drinking Team; EngFrosh Facil and next year's Spirit; CMAS Member; and Facil for both SOOPP DUSTEDs.
Why am I SOOPP Worthy? When a SOOPP Brother fall asleep on the toilet with his head between his legs, do you first as a facil get the other SOOPP Brothers to take pictures of him on his little sisters camera? Are you able to pull off being extremely involved while having the exact minimum GPA of 3.50 right after being let off Academic Probation? If SOOPP is too drunk to drive home, do you decide to drive them home by ignoring the fact your driver license was taken away from only a month ago and don't tell them about it and get lucky by the same SOOPP Brothers buying you Denny's @ 2:30 in the morning? Can you say you slept in a storage closet in res that was not on your floor? Can you say your last name is a brand of SOUP? If you said no to any of these, there is still a chance you have banged Will's Mom. I can say yes to them all, and by logical, hypothetical, mathematical and just by straight common sense, I am SOOPP Worthy.

The Carleton Engineering community has been a pretty big part of my life for the last five years. I've been part of frosh every year, and this year I'm part of a head team for the third time. I’ve been pretty involved with CSES. I’ve done some directorships, conferences, and spent a year on the exec. I was Advisory Director this year liaising with faculty and helping council out, and recently got elected President for 2010-2011. I've also had my fair share of fun attending C-eng social events whenever possible (Halloween, whirlwind, etc), plenty of keggers, and both of the SOOPP DUSTEDs.
I know I’m not usually the craziest, loudest, most outgoing person in the room but I’ve always tried to have fun with whatever I’m doing whether it’s chilling in Leo’s, dancing all night at a SOOPP DUSTED, or making disapproving faces at Brotha Routhier (which is pretty much a full time job). And if anyone needs someone to talk to, share a pitcher with, a dance partner, or just a hug, I’m their girl. Just like everyone before me has worked to make C-eng an amazing place, I’ve tried to keep that up so that when we end up spending 4-8 years of our life here, we won’t regret a minute of it.
I don’t know if I’m really SOOPP-worthy, but I appreciate the nomination, so thank you.

I've been involved with C-Eng for the last three years, in everything from EngFrosh as a first year to CSES President in third year. Alexander's Office has been my secondary home, being CSES President this current year, VP External the year before and honorably serving as First Year Representative during my first round on campus. I can be spotted fairly often at social events, and dilly-dallying in Leo's before class. I've also become involved with the Canadian Federation of Engineering Students, acting as National Capital Liaison for two years and next term I'll be stepping into the role of President of the CFES. As for EngFrosh, I've faciled twice for two awesome teams, and froshed once.
From my previous paragraph you may gather that I care very much about C-Eng and university life in general. Here are some other relevant qualifications you may find interesting: My last name is Stalker; I can almost play guitar; Several stories I tell about myself I learned second hand; As a child I thoroughly enjoyed Lego; My longest kill streak is a disappointing 12; and I really, really enjoy SOOPP, as well as large novelty cheques

Holder of the Super Frosh award for the year 2009/2010 and a fierce member of the frosh winning DRAGONS, Eric Escaravage has demonstrated a sincere involvement and interest in the culture of engineering at Carleton. A regular at most engineering events and SOOPP parties that he is physically able to attend; Eric had the pleasure of attending the 2010 GNCTR competition in Hamilton, Ontario. During his drunkenness he was able to network with numerous other engineers from all over Canada and was even screeched in by the fine Newfoundlanders from Memorial University. During said events, I have had the pleasure of meeting many fine individuals who I am proud to call friend, brother and whatever name I may have thought up while intoxicated. Now on to eng athletics; basketball, soccer, touch football and volleyball you name it I’ve played it, all while representing the one and only C-eng.
Alright, no more of this pretentious "referring to myself in the 3rd person" crap. I believe I am the most SOOPP worthy first year because I party like a rock star, kick ass and take names and during a party I streaked because SOOPP told me to! Giving in to peer pressure is what got me the cape in the first place! Not only that but while posing as a 22 year old I also tried to pick up a 29 year old townie, who was on probation for possession of cocaine I might add, during the first SOOPP DUSTED and in the process unfortunately and ACCIDENTLY cock-blocked Jon Zuber not once but TWICE ( Sorry Zuber :( )In this time of voting for most SOOPP worthy first year, ask not what your Super Frosh can do for you, but what you can do for your Super Frosh! Also I promised Igor I would take him to the strippers.
P.S. did I mention she had a daughter?

I got pretty involved in my first year of eng at Carleton. After doing frosh week as a Unicorn, I ran for CSES First Year Rep and succeeded in gaining one of the 2 positions. I have been to almost every CSES and Flightsuit event, and even attended Flightsuit Kegger when I had a really bad case of pneumonia. I've done CSES conferences (First Year Integration Conference at Lakehead), run my own First Year Event, and I'm also on Bridge Team for Concordia this year. I absolutely LOVE C-Eng, and I've already made efforts to make sure I'm involved next year- I just finished running for CSES Cive/Enviro Counselor, and I'm applying to Facil 2010 Eng Frosh.
Why am I SOOPP worthy? Well. I almost had a DUSTED happen on my birthday- unfortunately, it fell through based on legal issues this year... But let's talk about my call sign. I'm pretty random, and I dressed up as the Paper Bag Princess for Halloween at the Embassy. Apparently, according to Mike Jans, that means I should probably cover my head with a paper bag. anyway, I've had some good times with the engineers- specifically, a situation where I misjudged the potency of Jell-O shots at Grove House and now can't even look at Jell-O. To sum up why I think I'm SOOPP worthy, I'll leave you with this. SOOPP has traditionally chosen its' future members based on how they interact with the already-chosen SOOPP alumni and other upper year students. I believe that my friendships and relationships with upper years in C-Eng are strong indicators of my future potential with SOOPP and with C-Eng.

SOOPP Worthiness is a concept that is foreign to most first years. To me, my SOOPP worthiness in has been determined by how much I’ve learned this year. I know what you’re thinking, so allow me to explain. This, my first year at Carleton, I have learned that the only thing better than a forgotten night is a forgotten week, that waking up with bruises and burns is only the beginning of nights at GNCTR, that the best of friends can be made with a sandwich, a dead fish and each of your right hands, and nothing can ruin a night with engineers, not even a dislocation. That’s not all though, I’ve learned that the logic of drowning a sickness with alcohol for two months does not kill a virus, productivity, when hungover, increases by a factor of 10 and cleaning a rez bathroom for four guys for the first time in 7 months HAS to be done over a few beers. If that’s not a story of a first year who is SOOPP worthy, then god damn I Salute whoever is!
Now with that all said about why I think I’m SOOPP Worthy, I do participate in many other things for C-Eng. I began as the First Year Representative for CMAS and then expanded to helping out with events for the society. Following that, I attended both CFES Congress and ESSCO FYIC, where there obviously no partying going on there... Outside of society related activities I regularly volunteer at Leos, and I also participated on this year’s GNCTR team. I helped in the creation process as much as I could in crutches and had a blast repping Carleton in Hamilton. I am also deeply involved in C-Eng and Flightsuit events only missing their events because of other C-Eng related events going on.

I like to drink, I like to party, and I like to make sure the people around me are having a good time. Im often loud, ridiculous, and silly. I also know the words to most Iron Maiden songs. I eat lightning for breakfast and Neil Patrick Harris is locked in my basement.

Once upon a time men needed to be hairy to stay warm, and large to fend off other men and catch prey. These traits are no longer needed, for this reason the hairless, short man known as Quinn Murphy is simply more evolved than the rest of us making him a prime candidate for Most Soopp worthy grad.

My Carleton Engineering involvement started briefly after my frosh week (Operation EngFrosh), when I passed the CSES office one day and was asked if I was going to apply for the first year rep position on CSES Council. After campaigning and being elected, I sat on council for the year. In my first year I attended nearly every social event, earning the title of Social Ace by Flightsuit Committee. I also went to Winnipeg with GNCTR on the Channel 4 News Team. In my second year, I was a facil for Ye Olde EngFrosh, Office Manager for CSES, Spirit Co-Captain with Carleton's 300 GNCTR team (tied for 2nd in Spirit) and was on Flightsuit Committee. As Office Manager, my proposal for new office furniture was approved by the office of the dean. While on Flightsuit Committee, I ran the logistics and put on a successful first annual Flightsuit Talent Show with minimal assistance. In my third year, I was elected VP Services and also took over duties of Leonardo's General Manager for the winter semester. I was a head for Wild West EngFrosh. The meetings I ran with my managers contributed to Leonardo's reaching its highest earnings to date. I was able to get funding for new computers for the SGRC and Alexander's Office from the dean of engineering. Prior to my final year, I was appointed by the CSES members to the newly-created Regulatory Committee for my fourth year of study which ensures the executive of CSES remained compliant with the constitution. In my fourth year I was a Group Coordinator for Mythological EngFrosh.
I am SOOPP-worthy because, through my involvement, I have helped better the C-Eng community, while maintaining the grades to graduate in 4 years. Throughout my 4 years in Carleton Engineering, I have helped increase involvement and participation from other students with my friendly attitude. I also know how to have a good time! I always enjoy found drinks! Additionally, I am good at keeping secrets, I am an organized person so I find orders to be beneficial, I am comfortable with the colour purple and panthers are bad ass.

Ever since I've heard about CSES, I have been a part of it. Mind you, it took me a year to notice because I was originally an artsy (in General Arts, of all things!) but I washed away all the sins and the suck off me and became an engineer.
I've involved myself in the usual CSES fare, such as attending CSES events, flightsuits, Leo's shifts, etc. I've also participated in EngFrosh as a facil (Medics, Pantaloons) and as a head (Mavericks) and won the SOOPP challenges when it existed and the week when I was a head. I couldn't do it this year due to sudden scheduling conflicts. I've attended and helped out every CSES Charity LAN, providing equipment, games and support. I'm pretty sure I've been to all of them. I helped with EngWear, designing t-shirts and hoodies and pitching the idea for the flask. I've heavily contributed to the Iron Times, as a writer and editor-in-chief. I picked up the editorial position after the Times was in serious threat of being shut down. I've managed to keep it going so far and here's hoping I don't burn everything to the ground like the last two years.
I'm pretty sure most people know me as Lazers instead of Johnny, simply by watching me play call signs at parties. That, and I'm generally a cool guy. Also, IMMACHARGINMAHLAZER IMMAFIRINMAHLAZER SHOOP DA WOOP PEW PEW PEW PEW PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW

For what I have done.... I really don't want to list everything. I've touched and left my mark on almost everything involving CENG, CSES, CSCE, EngFrosh and even a few broken chairs. Regardless of my slight hiatus this final year, have done a metric crapton of stuff in my years at Carleton. I could list everything in some detail, but if I needed to do that then I probably don't deserve to win lol.
